John Watson

Over the course of 30 some odd years, John Watson has worn many hats. Learning the love of theatre from an early age, the performance arts have always been a passion. From stage to film, improv to stand up, John has worked on numerous projects throughout southwest Florida. He attended Pine View School in Osprey, Florida. Active in high school with Latin club; he was state champion in Latin Prose and Poetry, and Speech and Debate; where he was national champion of Extemporaneous Duo Humorous Interpretation.

John graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Classics. There he honed his crafts, learning Greek theatre and commedia dell'arte, while translating way too many Latin tomes. During his time there he was a founding member of both the Tampa chapter of Nine and Numb Improv, which he performed with for 5 years, and The Asylum Theatre, where he performed a live action horror stage play, called Splatter Theatre, and wrote and directed a sketch comedy show called "Mustardface." He also performed at many community theatres, most notably his performance of Good Evening by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, at the Carrollwood Players, which garnered him a Best of the Bay 2013 Nomination for Best Actor.

Currently, in lieu of live theatre gigs, you can find John managing Joe Maxx Coffee Company on Dearborn St, where you can see his other passion, coffee, in full display. He is an accomplished barista, with 15 years of experience in the coffee industry. He has worked as a barista trainer for over 7 years, and loves teaching people all about coffee, from the history to the science.
