The Open Studio

Encouraging Creativity and Healthy Living

The Open Studio (TOS) is a group of small businesses, artists and entrepreneurs who work together at 380 Old Englewood Road in Englewood, FL to encourage and support creativity and healthy living.

The Open Studio was the first project developed under the RCTOD zoning starting with one building and now includes 5 buildings and 2 1/2 acres of land. In the 10 years since our inception we have been developing the landscape and intention of our site. In addition to the current businesses on our campus, several other small businesses began, evolved and ultimately outgrew their space. We were happy to see them move on and thrive in a larger setting, allowing others to realize their dream. The campus also spawned 2 Open Mic programs, both still going strong. One is now hosted by Mango Bistro and the other is at the Englewood Arts Center. Our edible landscape has inspired dozens of homeowners to convert their yards to private Food Forests. Many artists and health related practioners make use of our space for classes and workshops. Adding retreat programs is our newest direction.

On site you will find a variety of classes and workshops, and a small outdoor stage for backyard events all surrounded by lush fruit trees and vegetable gardens. Everyone associated with TOS works cooperatively to make the campus an environment of health and well being.

We encourage you to wander through the property but please do not pick the fruit or produce. Many of our plants are uncommon and some can be poisonous so for your own safety, and to respect the growers, please eat only what you buy through the Homegrown Market or when offered on a tour with one of our knowledgeable gardeners.

If you are interested in offering a class or workshop on site please get in touch through our email This email address is being protected from spambots. Our campus is located in a special zoning district called the RCTOD (Residential Commercial Transition Overlay District) which makes it possible for our combination residential and small business environment to exist.
